Dining at The Statler

Cape May sits on one of the Atlantic's great oyster beds and a ring of farms five miles inland. Our kitchen cooks what lands at the dock that morning — Cape May salt oysters, Barnegat Bay scallops, blue crab from the back bays — with heirloom tomatoes from Beach Plum Farm and peaches picked the day they're served. Three rooms, one kitchen.

Chef Daniel Reeves' seasonal coastal menu runs on what comes off the dock that morning. Heirloom tomatoes from Cape May County in summer, scallops from Barnegat Bay in winter, bread baked in-house every afternoon.

Wrought-iron tables under white umbrellas, the length of our ocean-side porch. Lunch is simple: lobster rolls, chilled gazpacho, an uncomplicated burger, frosé. Dinner service runs through September with the same menu as The Beacon, plus a raw bar.

A 30-seat bar and lounge tucked off the lobby. Low lighting, dark wood, navy leather stools. Ryan at the bar makes the best martini on the peninsula; Samuel's cocktail list changes every two weeks.
